How to Factory Reset Your Firestick
When to factory reset
Factory reset is a last resort. Try it when: persistent buffering that nothing fixes, apps keep crashing, storage is full and clearing cache does not help, or you are selling/giving away the Firestick.
What you lose
A factory reset deletes all apps, settings, logins, and downloaded files. You will need to reinstall and log in to all apps.
How to factory reset
Settings > My Fire TV > Reset to Factory Defaults. Confirm. Wait 5-10 minutes for the reset to complete. The Firestick will restart to the setup screen.
After reset
Set up WiFi, log in to your Amazon account, reinstall your streaming apps via Downloader or App Store, and re-enter your streaming credentials.
Alternative: reset without losing apps
If you just want to fix performance, try clearing all app caches first. This often fixes issues without needing a full factory reset.
